Vom 01.09.2011 bis zum 31.12.2012: Beurlaubt - Forschungsaufenthalt am Europäischen Hochschulinstitut in Florenz

Dr. Gaby Umbach studierte Politische Wissenschaft, Italianistik und Lusitanistik an der Universität zu Köln. Im Jahr 2000 schloss sie ihr Studium mit der Erlangung des Magister Artium (M.A.) ab. Seit 2000 forscht und lehrt sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Jean-Monnet Lehrstuhl für Politikwissenschaft an der Universität zu Köln (Prof. W. Wessels). Ihre Promotion zum Thema "Intent and Reality of a New Mode of Governance: 'Get together' or 'Mind the Gap'? The Impact of the European Employment Strategy on the Europeanisation of National Employment Policy Co-ordination and Policies in the United Kingdom and Germany" legte sie 2006 vor. 2007 wurde sie zum Dr. rer. pol. promoviert. Seit 2009 ist sie zudem als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl von Prof. Frank Schulz-Nieswandt (Seminar für Sozialpolitik der Universität zu Köln) mit dem Themenschwerpunkt Europäische Integration / Europäische Union in der Lehre beschäftigt.
